How to Use Tea to Clean and Care for Your Home

True tea like green tea and black tea is a natural cleaner, deodorizer, and plant supplement that can be used in versatile ways around the house. Not only is it safe and free of chemicals, tea can be just as effective as store-bought household products. Read on to learn how you can incorporate tea to clean and care for your home.

Clean

Tannins are naturally found in tea, especially black tea, and it's great for removing stains and adding shine. This means tea can be used as a multipurpose cleaner for various surfaces around the house. Brew some black tea, dip a cloth into the tea, and use the cloth to clean and shine the windows, mirrors, wooden surfaces, and furniture.

Deodorize

Not only do tea leaves smell good, they're effective at absorbing odors. This makes tea a great deodorizer for the fridge, shoe cabinet, and carpets. Instead of throwing out your used tea leaves, dry them out and store them in smelly areas around the house to keep the air fresh. For carpets, sprinkle the dry tea leaves, allow the leaves to absorb the odors for a few hours, and then vacuum.

Plant Care

The acid levels of tea are ideal for plants. It can be helpful to add a layer of dry tea leaves to the bottom of a potted plant. The tea leaves will act as a fertilizer whilst absorbing excess water in the pot. Alternatively, cool your leftover tea and use it to water your plants. Occasionally doing this will give your plants a natural boost in nutrients for healthy growth.

These are just a few of the many ways tea can be used around the house. Tea has various nutrients that benefit our health as well as our home. Take advantage of tea's natural properties to clean and care for your home without worrying about chemicals.
